When I knock on doors across Port Saint Lucie, from the quiet streets of Torino to the growing neighbourhoods off Tradition Parkway, I hear the same thing from residents: “We love this city. We just want to know our family is safe.”

That’s not too much to ask. And as your next Mayor, it’s exactly what I intend to deliver.

“Fully funded police and fire isn’t a luxury. It’s the first responsibility of any local government, and it will be the first promise I keep.”

Why public safety is the foundation of everything

Port Saint Lucie is one of the fastest-growing cities in Florida. With growth comes opportunity, but it also comes with real pressure on our first responders. Our police officers and firefighters are being stretched thin. Response times matter. Staffing levels matter. Equipment matters.

When a fire breaks out or a 911 call goes unanswered for too long, no economic development plan, no infrastructure project, no education initiative can make up for it. Public safety is the foundation upon which everything else is built.

What Steven Giordano will do

This isn’t about politics. It’s about practical leadership. Here’s what a Giordano administration will prioritize from day one:

• Fully fund the PSL Police Department: No budget cuts to staffing, training, or equipment. We will recruit and retain the best officers by making Port Saint Lucie a city where first responders are valued and well-compensated.
• Invest in our Fire Rescue teams: As the city grows, so must our fire stations and fleet. We will ensure no neighborhood is underserved, and no firefighter goes to work without the tools they need.
• Build trust between residents and law enforcement: Community policing programs, neighborhood liaisons, and transparent reporting so every PSL family feels heard and protected.
• Protect emergency response times: Through strategic station placement and smart staffing, we will ensure help arrives when you need it most.
